Dear David,

I want to thank you again for sending us [the Easy Music Theory] CD set.

The response has been wonderful among our students and, in fact, I just ordered a second to give to a student as a gift. We have had several students order the CDs and if, after entrance exams, we find a talented young singer deficient in the practical aspects of music, we are asking them all to order the CD for study over the summer.

Just yesterday, in my Fundamentals of Singing class, all 9 of the young students have decided to order the CDs... I would like to see how this resource could be used to compliment a basic theory class...

May God continue to bless your marvelous work.

Very truly yours,
Dana Talley, Ph.D. (Juilliard)
(My wife, Sue, found you on the net and has added you to the curriculum. She is Dept. Head at our school)

[The following letter is from a musician/teacher in Colorado]

Hello!!

My name is Jennifer and I just wanted to let you all know how much I love the CD-ROM....music has always come very easily to me, but I have always relied on my "ear" to learn a song...I used to "cheat" during my piano lessons as a child, and as a way to avoid learning to read music I would "innocently" (hee hee!) ask the teacher to just play the song once that I was supposed to learn for the next time.

...I am now singing in a choir and taking a performance class and there is an expectation for me to actually (gulp) "read" music.

[With Easy Music Theory]... I have a stronger foundation upon which to both learn, and understand, what I need to sing.

I am also a teacher with a teaching style very similar to Gary's...my student's think I'm a total nutcase...I'll wear silly outfits, dance around, act the fool...whatever it takes to help them to comprehend...and more importantly ENJOY...the material.

[In my choir] ...we were talking about the intervals in a major scale the other day and I launched into the whole tone-tone-semitone-tone-tone-tone-semitone thing and from the looks on their faces I'd say they were ready to call someone from the state mental hospital.

Our choir director congratulated me for being absolutely correct...but not without first taking a step or two away from me, just in case I lost it completely...(I got the same response when we were talking about key signatures and I did the sharps and flats rhyme doohicky and then gave the answer...my next email might be from the Cuckoo's Nest if they have anything to say about it!)

Anyhow...I'm loving the videos and the lessons and the whole thing...I still have not made it all the way through the series and look forward to what I will learn next.

I just recommended the online lessons and the CD to someone...I hope they enjoy it as much as I did...So, thanks a ton for the information and the hilarity...I hope this finds you well and smiling...take care.

Jennifer
